Santa Barbara is jumping into the Transition Town waters!
We are just at the forming stages of the Transition Town concept in Santa Barbara. We have formed a steering committee (although we prefer to call ourselves a SEED committee) which includes Roy Prince, Mark Phillips, Larry Saltzman and Linda Buzzel-Saltzman and myself. All these folks (except me) are seasoned permaculturists.
We are doing our homework with reading the book by Rob Hopkins, and will be moving towards doing some public education very soon. There are already many groups in the area that are doing wonderful things to educate the public on peak oil, global warming and local sustainability so we are started to get the word out to them about what we are doing. We hear one of the challenges is folding the TT concept in with all the other wonderful work that's currently going on, so people don't feel we are trying to take over!
We look forward to any thoughts/suggestions on starting out with this initiative in Santa Barbara. Thank you! /Cat Henley

Thank you Cat and to all the members of the TT Santa Barbara Seed group,
I look forwards to co-creating the TT vision in our vibrant corner of the world. We have SO much potential to tap into here and SO many challenges to test us. We are indeed borne in interesting times and have landed in an interesting place. This is beyond any of us, but within us to manifest together, as a team and a community.
We are the one's we've been waiting for.... Which means the wait is over.... Let's get busy!
