What's cool in the GTIA Portfolio...
Here are some goals for 2010-

1) Join with groups that are developing local currencies and economic survival plans.

The US dollar is done for and it is a matter of time (maybe 12 months) before inflation rears its ugly head and destroys what is left. We must wake people up that they must get out of the U.S. dollar and buy gold as a safe haven. Silver will replace all metals as a bartering/trade tool. Silver prices will continue to outperform gold in 2010, as the world once again begins looking at silver as money, instead of just an industrial metal.

2) Encourage local support of local services and products through community clubs and advertising campaigns. As prices rise, distribution will come to a halting stop. Say goodbye to Chinese goods and produce from South America. We need to encourage manufacturing locally.

3) Start the 10th Amendment nullification process. The U.S. Dollar Index will see short-term bounce, then huge crash due to printing too much paper. We must block all federal spending bills from impacting our state.

We are at a point where there are more people who are bearish on the U.S. dollar than ever before, which means from a technical standpoint it is overdue for a short-term bounce. However, we would not consider going long the dollar even as a trade. A huge crash in the U.S. dollar will occur at any time.

The world has become flooded with U.S. dollars. Foreigners currently hold over $10 trillion in dollar-denominated assets that can be dumped at any time. With the Federal Reserve continuing to print money at record highs, as soon as banks begin lending their excess reserves we could see a spike in consumer prices and a rush to get out of U.S. dollars.

4) We must encourage citizen's to prepare for a peak oil energy crisis before next winter. Oil will rise back above $100 per barrel.

Expect oil to rise above $100 per barrel fueled almost entirely by inflation. This time around, it won't matter if there's another substantial decline in oil demand from the U.S. Expect oil prices to rise regardless of if Americans can afford it or not.

There hasn't been any major new oil discoveries made in decades and the Federal Reserve's printing of money will surely outpace the discovery of new oil fields.

5) There will be a move towards a Libertarian third-party. If you can't beat them then join them FAST.

Americans are waking up to the charade that has been taking place in Washington. Power has been going back and forth between two political parties who do nothing but multiply each other's mistakes. Both the Democrats and Republicans are equally responsible for the economic mess our country is in today. In the last Presidential election, Americans had a choice between two candidates who both supported the government's destructive stimulus plans and bailouts. In the next Presidential election, a third-party candidate will have a serious chance of being elected for the first time in history. New leadership will emerge and a Libertarian movement will begin in 2010.Join it.

6) Watch for a political upset during the 2010 election.

The people will become so frustrated with what politicians have done to them that they will become huge supporters of alternative political candidates who are seeking the nominations for congress. We need people to join fiscally savvy individuals in Washington so that we have more elected representatives that understand the truth about our economy and the need to reverse the hyperinflationary course our country is currently on. Although they may be underdogs because they don't have the support of special interest groups, libertarian candidates will have huge grassroots support from educated Americans who will travel from all states to volunteer for their campaigns.Bo one of those volunteers.

7) Get Behind 'End the Fed' Protests.

In 2009, hundreds of people gathered for several 'End the Fed' protests in front of Federal Reserve buildings nationwide. However, the turnout for these events paled in comparison to the millions of Americans who participated in health care protests and town hall meetings right in their won towns.

In 2010, more Americans will realize that it is the Federal Reserve that is the cause of most of our nation's economic problems. While the health care debate divided our nation 50/50, 100% of all Americans will want to end the Federal Reserve as prices of food and other goods needed to live start rising through the roof.

8) PREPARE for Major Food Shortages.

For the past several decades, most Americans went to college to get a non-productive job on Wall Street and nobody went to school to become a farmer. There is currently a major lack of farmers in the U.S. and to make matters worse, the Real Estate bubble destroyed immeasurable amounts of farmland to build houses we didn't need and couldn't afford. It is estimated that Boulder County alone can only support 25% of its own population with the farms that are here. We need to support CSA ventures and backyard gardens. We need to push Boulder County to drop all the building permit bull shit that prevents people from having chickens, goats and greenhouses in their backyards. We need to abolish property taxes.

Inventories of agricultural products are the lowest they have been in decades yet the prices of many agricultural commodities are down 70% to 80% from their all time highs adjusted for real inflation. Catastrophic food shortages are possible in 2010, not just in New York City but in all states.

Thanks for clarifying, David.

I, tambien, believe that we will not succeed without nearly a concensus of understanding AND participation.

"Unleashing the genius" is problematic because realistically I don't have much faith in the intelligence and commitment, or even the intentions of the normal population.

If we had better educational systems, better leaders, and more direct ways of reaching out to such citizens, we could have a chance. But most unfortunately, we have educational systems, propagandist Capitalist media, an elite system of whore politicians schooled by Capitalist pimp propagandists/elite and elitist dominated educational systems, as "leaders" and sheeple which DRIVE the denizens of the USA toward the seemingly necessary but overwhelming "Illichian" task of "deschooling".

I'm afrayed that we really don't have that kind of resource, nor do we have the time when we think of the enormity of the task of reschooling both from a conceptual and perceptual viewpoint, getting people to understand the alternative plans, and the technical re-education that it would take to implement those plans.

Yet, on the bright side, if our leaders (and it is important for any and everybuddy who can see themselves as such, to assume that role) and the consensual understanding could recognize the need for fulcramatic change then the unemployment and equity problems could be realized to such an extent that we would want to ENCOURAGE immigration.

Trouble is, we have an aging population in the USA and if we were to be dependent on a young "crop" of world immigrants then there would be probably even more of a "fresh" learning impediment and there would certainly be resistance from an indigenous USA population who may see it as a lost opportunity for them unless they have children and/or grandchildren who would definitely benefit.

As long as I am able, I will continue to try.

Mike:

I never suggested that superiority will rule the day. On the contrary, freedom is just that - there will be a culling. This is the result of our insanity. Good people will not make it. There will be little anyone can do about the economic catastrophe that is about to take hold. We have allowed it if not participated in it. There is no time to educate the masses. This will be a year of survival of the fittest and it may not be you or I. This is reality. I am just giving it my best shot to talk to those who would listen.
As Richard Heinbers said we are going to need 50 million more farmers. I think most people in this country are unsuited to farm work. It's hard and you have to be really cussed to keep farming. We have a maple syruping operation which is a great thing to do in the early spring, but it takes getting out there every day and making it happen. Most people don't consider that to be fun. Get the buckets, stoke the fire. (We love it)

I think it's going to have to be part of everybody's lives again, like places in Mexico where everyone grows a garden, cuts some wood and lives like a campesino.

We'll rediscover the market, which is a fun place to be. It's a social experience as well.

We'll barter whatever we have with others and have a great time doing it.
Maybe you could find a Corporate Agribusiness Concern to market "Frozen Campesinos".

Maine is the one state in New England that I'd have to admit that I really don't know hardly at all. I imagine that it is somewhat, and for some time has been similar to Vermont in that you have hardy farmers, or in your case foresters and fishermen, interspersed with an aristocratic elite and bourgeoisie who use it as a vacation spot.

I am aware of the legacy of paper mills and I would be rather dull if I did not perceive the existing and growing rural poverty, both as an outgrowth of the post-peak productive resource base which has been extant for many years, and the more recent major downturn in the world economy, coupled with the idealistic immigration pursuits of city folk desiring, but finding much disappointment in the idea of a romantic rural life.

I've always wanted to climb Katahdin, but found the trip from Mass-a-two-shits to be prohibitive.

Of course you have Rockefellers and Bush's to boast? of, but then again...

I want to relocate one more time in my life and my dream is to commandeer the River Works in Lynn, Massachusetts for building solar water heating and other relevant retro-fitting demand side energy products, and parts for the re-employment of the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard to retrofit large boats to carry the world's (or at least the larger region's) biosolids out to the deep ocean.

If I pull off this miracle, can I visit and do some maple sugaring?

If only you belived in Miracles
So Would I

You make it sound like a party.
I enjoy hard and challenging work.
Iver:
Your life sounds like a Robert Frost poem but you will need more than maple syrup. We are spending too much time chatting and have not gotten to the nitty gritty. If you ever get to mass produce your syrup or Mike ever gets to relocate to his solar boat and sail to Lilliputen land, you are both going to need to make it through the next two or three years. I cannot tell whether Mike's sarcasm taints his message but the global government has other ideas. He jokes of the Rockefellers and the Bushies but they are an obstacle. Here is a quick 5 step priority plan that may help you realize your dream before Big brother either searches and seizes or uses eminent domain to take your little paradise away.

1. Get to know your neighbors. Become solid friends with them and share what you can about transition. Both conservatives and liberals like the idea. Liberals because it seems to "green" and counter culture, and conservatives because they are watching the business reports and see what is happening to the dollar, not to mention, they have a seven deadly sin rage for what is happening in the White House. Major Obama paranoia .
2. Get your money out of banks. It is best in silver for a local currency barter fund or join the Open Currency group www.opencurrency.com and prepare for monetary collapse. This is the only way they will get us to the Amero and the North American Union by their 2012 deadline.
3. Learn how to do it all and fast. This will take more than maple syrup. You need goats, chickens, veggies, fruit trees, water, composting toilets, wood stove,(especially when our energy bills go through the roof due to cap and trade) and a lot more. Should I mention 2nd amendment? 4
4. Help your local politically minded rah rahs petition for tenth amendment rights. The state will be the only way to block the Fed once major legislation starts to control us. Your local neighborhood and town are really your best bet but nullification does not hurt.
5. Educate yourself on the transition movement and stay in touch with others around the country that are starting up programs. We have to re-educate the populous quickly. They may not all get it, but Rudolf Steiner was no dummy when he put a transition-like curriculum in the Waldorf schools. He saw what was happening in Germany in the 1920's It is here. We need to teach others to farm, cook, raise livestock, card wool, knit, save seeds, etc.... But we cannot do this thing alone.
Nice to have you on board. I hope I do not sound too cryptic.
Sunny?

Survival of the fittest, eh?

Social Darwinism was always equated to Nazism, back when we first stated discussing Sir Charles.

No, it will be the conscious and deliberate evolution of the species to Homa Cooperativo, else it will be extinction. The plagues associated with such a major die-off will ascertain the latter, should it be the way we go.

So, 2010 was the year that the Galapagos Man sighted for the beginning of his theory?

I didn't know that!

You are cute Mike but I refer to the mass panic once the Matrix falls. I do agree that the political elite are very conscious and deliberate. But 98% of the sheep do not know that. They still think Obama is the Messiah.
People around here don't think of Obama as the messiah. Those of us who voted for him may be a little more likely to, but most people are just trying to get through the recession around here.

The matrix has already fallen around here. It fell shortly after the Civil War in some places.

The end of a lot of programs would really do a number though. Ending liheap and food stamps could cause some real starvation and freezing.

I think the way they'll do it is through hyperinflation. The official inflation rate will be around 5% while the reality will be closer to 500% or something.

Just a guess as to what could happen. We could also fall into a deflation hole where no matter how much scrip they print up the economy falls just as fast and people are willing to sell anything for any price.
You got it Iver. Inflation will be the vehicle.
Susan, read your new years resoultions for last year. They apply more than ever in 2011. Thought you might be interested in a book I wrote "Why We Are Always Broke"  You can find info on the book at www.workforpeace.info     good luck  bill crumley
