Educators For The Future

This is a sort of "general" area for the education topic. One of the major failures of the modern society is in education, and most especially the American style of education. This group is open to all new ideas.

I've been reading some of John Taylor Gatto's work as well as some videos on Youtube. He was a New York school teacher that "dropped out" in the same year he received the Teacher of the Year award.…Continue

School Consolidation (or not)

For most of the past half century or so, the trend has been to consolidate smaller schools into mega-schools. James Howard Kunstler has written about how the ubiquitous yellow school buses might soon…Continue

Catherine Colby has just started a new Group devoted to TEACHERS FOR TRANSITION. Given the interests of this group, you may want to check it out -- http://transitionus.ning.com/group/teachersfortransition

Jarett, I re-purposed David's comment into an entry into SUBGROUPS AND OTHER RELATED COMMUNITIES. Consider this a prototype idea -- you may or may not like the changes. IF you like the idea, feel free to rename this TEXT BOX and to include additional good stuff people in this group will want to know about. It's a sort of "resume" for your group.

The group I recently started, Whole Person Paradigm, could have been a sub-group of this one, so please check over there now and then, if you don't join.

Les, Educators works well and I think you're right to word it more towards people rather then abstractions.

I'll send people this way as much as I can.

Thanks Jarett and welcome Educators for the Future. It's great to see both here. Now that you've created Educators your members and our members can INVITE likeminded people from Educators and from the Transition Movement to commingle, add further information and links in TEXTBOX as they develop, delve into group issues on the DISCUSSION FORUM, and make quick comments on the COMMENT WALL. The hybrid Educators /Transition group even has its own private email list for group announcements. Educators has two members so far -- you and me. I suggest you scan for invitees from our current members and then invite key people you know. Let's do it! Let us know when you have questions.

BTW, I changed the title from EDUCATION to EDUCATORS -- as a way of focusing more directly on people, rather than abstract topics. It's cool if you want to change it back. What do you think?
