Fantastic Mark! thanks for sharing. I find your work extremely important, and fascinating. I have been trying to get "KickStarter" to create a site to support the fundraising of projects like mine and all "transitional" type efforts. Not even a response yet, so seeing your information gave me hope that funding maybe a possibility. I have exceeded my "friend requests" so if you would like to connect, please do. Here is a background on what I am doing:http://thefindingfiniteproject.wordpress.com/ all the best, Chris

All,

I've become active in John Robb's new "open venture" wiki (MiiU.org) for resilient places, and have created a profile of Dayton at http://MiiU.org/wiki/Dayton . MiiU is interested in having photographers and videographers upload clips relating to resilient places, skills, and tools. Contributors to the wiki will be benefiting (directly) from Amazon ads on pages they create.  Hope you'll explore MiiU and consider adding pages on resiliency-related initiatives in your area!

Best,

Mark Frazier

Hi - just joined your group.  I am in the first year of my PhD examining how craft making can build sustainable communities - which includes a transition focus with a view of 'makers' and their skill roll-out as a developmental tool in community growth (both virtual and physical community).  I am hoping to create a participatory film that documents the craft makers' sustainable journey (when I find them!) and hopefully how they build community. Would love any comments or suggestions or links to people you might know.

cheers

Ainslie

Dave,
Would enjoy talking sometime. I posted an email on your growthbusters website previously, don't know if you saw it. But, yes, I'd be interested in talking. I am limited in the time I can devote to this project, but would like to get input from persons more experienced in making films about how to go about doing this; but my gut feeling is this should get done -- by someone!

cheers,
rick

Chris,
Thanks for your comment. I will certainly check in with Mr Korten on my plans, which are just in the idea stage at this point, but ... given his professed ideals in his writings, I cannot imagine he would be in opposition to such a project. Which leads me to the open question: why do you offer this cautionary note? What experience have you had that leads you to suggest this? Please do share...
Regards,
rick

I hired a great archivist who put together a directory of the latest greatest environmental documentaries. If you want to access the directory go to

Rick,

David Korten holds his work close -- in intellectual property terms.
I would check with him and his wife before you consider the next step.

Well, Rick. I'm just down the Interstate in Colorado Springs and have the skillset, and clearly the interest in the subject. We should chat.
