I just found out about this Kentucky-specific resource. The Univeristy of Kentucky has a new Community and Economic Development Initiative group. According  their website: CEDIK is dedicated to building Kentucky communities with a true sense of pride and place, rich natural and built amenities, and a strong economic base.

Could be a good resource for local Transition groups!

Need a favor! Would you be willing to help move the remaining membership from our original Transition Kentucky State website to this new group? There are 91 members who need a little encouragement to move to the new site from the old site, which will be deleted any day now.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOU
* Log into the old site at http://transitionkentucky.ning.com
* Go to http://transitionkentucky.ning.com/profiles/members/
* Change the SORT BY to Alphabetical.
* Use the first letter of your first name to select everybody whose first letter matches yours. Check through our roster on this page and select another letter if somebody else's name starts with your letter. Repeat the process with the letter before and the letter after yours. Don't worry about some people getting a couple of notices.
* Click on their photo one by one and use the COMMENT WALL to send your message.

MediaWiki is the stuff I use the best, Les. These WYSIWYG editors are OK too. I need to let you in also on http://openkollab.net .org .com if you aren't aware. OpenKollab is a certification board that is self-organizing about global group to group open standards, (gg2g) i think.

They are working with trust metrics, meta-currencies, eGov systems, crowd-sourcing protocols and all sorts of organizational hi-jinx. Quite a moving target, but worth keeping an eye on, imo. They seem to have an "ear to the ground" concerning transition processes, especially in the context of social networking and entrepreneurship.

Kentucky.wikia.com was started a few years ago by WikiProject Kentucky at Wikipedia. It's still there, still free and still ready for Kentuckians to use as they see fit. Wikia sites run on the freely available, open source MediaWiki platform.
