Beverly, you asked about members living in or around Brady/Brownwood/ San Angelo Texas.  The best way to check on locations is to do an ADVANCED SEARCH -- http://transitioninaction.com/profiles/members/advancedSearch -- entering in turn Brady, TX etc or just plain TX or Texas.  If you don't find somebody, how about creating a group?  I'll be glad to show you how.

Please see the Group menus we're installing today for Texas. These links represent advanced ways of selecting, sorting, reviewing activities and associations scoped to Texas. The key to remember is to TAG all events, photos, videos, discussions, etc. with the TAG "US-Texas" as you create them. Go back and tag your earlier creations with "US-Texas" and they will automatically appear on the Texas-specific menus. If you hear a big slurping whoosh when you open this page, it's the US-Texas Portfolio gathering bits & pieces from all over the site as well as external sites and summarizing them for your members. Who wants to help manage this? It's really fun!

Yes Les, that was/is the site I was referring to but it still isn't showing up on the "TRANSITION TEXAS INITIATIVES AND ASSOCIATES"
directory at the top of your page... http://transitionus.ning.com/group/linktransitiontexasusa

Perhaps it just hasn't updated yet? Or maybe that still isn't quite what I meant? I mean that ideally Dallas area people that go shopping on the http://transitionus.ning.com and various other transition related web sites across the web should end up at that one site... http://transitiontexas.ning.com/group/transitiondallas

In a related effort, it will surely turn out that there are other large pockets of symbiotic people gathered on groups all across the web (whether they are already calling themselves part of the Transition Towns Movement or not) that they should be directed to that one central gathering point.

I think it is very important that we not just depend on people to slowly herd themselves together. It might happen but it might not? And it is too important to let it not happen.

We have to go find them and point them to the one spot.

As far as I know (at least for now) Ning groups are "the one spot"

Thanks Steve. Does the addition of TRANSITION TEXAS -- http://transitiontexas.ning.com/group/transitiondallas to TRANSITION DALLAS do what you wanted?

Needs to have a link attaching it to this site...

http://transitionus.ning.com/group/linktransitiontexasusa

above.

I think it may need to be linked in with the rest of the site indexing too?

Some weeks ago, because I did not see a Dallas link above, I formed my own Dallas group. I have now deleted that Dallas group and am promoting the group I just found instead. We have to keep policing the web for various well meaning but self appointed "transition towns" web sites and keep directing them back to the main site and get proper sub sites set up for them and placed in the master directories as needed. Well that is my opinion anyhow.

Whenever more people from the North Texas (Dallas, Denton, and Ft Worth, areas) signs up please say hello. I am anxious to connected and network with others in the area that "get it." I know a lot of people in the area that are interested in sustainable and alternative approaches to urban and rural living but like so many people they are reluctant to join something like this early on. But later on they will be coming out of the woodwork.

I am trying to recruit people from other groups and hope you will too.
