Diane-- It sounds like you have some great ideas for administering this site. Would you like to be the designated admin person? I was put down as admin because I emailed all the people from the other site to welcome them to this site and Les Squires made me an admin. With me working part time and taking so many classes this fall it sounds like you would be the perfect person to keep this site organized. How does that sound? Karen

Elise - I just tried to send you a message, but found we need to be friends before I can do that. I visited your group's website this morning: Well done! I'd really like to run up to Berkeley Springs on day to see the solar green house and chat about your group's work.

Regards -

All - As I was prepping and freezing peaches this morning, I had plenty of time to think about this site. I was wondering if we should start several Discussion baskets to hold ideas for our reskilling workshops and other subjects? I'm thinking, gardenng, preserving, local suppliers, local economy, etc.

Lindsay -

Thanks! Great article with lots of good info. I really like the idea of using a local restaurant. We don't have any locavore restaurants per se in Reston - anyone know of any in NoVA? We do have a local restaurant with a sports bar room - I'll talk to the owner about the concept.

Cheers all and have a great weekend-

Diane

Also, here's that article on our film series that I mentioned: http://www.transitionus.org/stories/film-series-strengthens-transit...

Great idea Lindsay. I plan on attending all three days too and I am sure some others in the northern va area will want to join in. What are the rest of everyone's plans for the aspo conference?

Hi Friends from Va. Erik and I will be in DC October 6-10 to attend the ASPO-USA Peak Oil Conference. Tickets are still available: http://www.aspousa.org/worldoil2010/ But, even if you're not planning to be there, I am wondering if there is one night when we might all get together for a dinner in downtown DC? For us the best night would be Wednesday October 6, which, if we did that, wouldn't have to be in downtown DC, but could be somewhere in Va on our way in to town. Please look at your calendars and think about it. Perhaps someone could suggest a cool locavore eatery? Best, Lindsay

Please see the Group menus installed this morning. These links represent advanced ways of selecting, sorting, reviewing activities and associations scoped to Virginia. The key to remember is to TAG all events, photos, videos, discussions, etc with the TAG "US-Virginia". If you hear a big slurping whoosh when you open this page, it's the Virginia Portfolio gathering bits & pieces from all over the site as well as external sites and summarizing it for your constituencies. Who wants to help manage this? It's fun!

Thanks Karen for your assistance with members on the old site. Virginia has promoted you to an Admin. Hope we can review the work here soon.
