Comment by Ann Brigit Waters on August 1, 2011 at 11:56am in California we are in the midst of a crack down on small herd shares & dairy share programs. CDFA has taken actions all over the state...the local food producer is at risk. Please get involved, write a letter to Karen Ross - the Secretary of Agriculture asking her to support the rights of family farmers to produce, process & distribute products directly to consumers in their community. It costs many thousands of dollars to get a dairy license, and the laws are set up for large industrial operations. You can find out more by searching the above key words, or read my blog at

There's lots more of this happening all over the country - we just showed the movie - "Farmageddon" which pretty much nails it...
We must let our wishes be known every time these agencies & laws bite on local food security - thanks!
Comment by Ann Brigit Waters on August 1, 2011 at 11:48am H everyone - Thanks for taking part in this & making things happen to the page too, since I am not very good at figuring these techie things out.
Imprtant to note this item - "White House Rural Council". - and keep your eyes open, not sure yet what it means...on June 9th Barack Obama signed an executive order establishing the "White House Rural Council". The Council members are the Heads of 24 Federal Departments, including; Defense, Homeland Security, National Drug Control, EPA, Labor, Commerce, and on. The 25th is a wild card entry that states, they can appoint whoever they want "from time to time". Is Big Gov coming to check us local foodies out? Just wondering....hoping it is a positive opportunity...let us all know if you get a hint...
I want to keep my tone positive...more on that soon...
