The primary purpose of this group is to increase awareness and knowledge of Transition Movement to nurture interest in moving Powell County and its communities toward a Transition Initiative.
Including Clay City, Stanton, Nada and Slade as well as smaller outlying communities, Powell County, Kentucky is the home of 12,600+ individuals and approximately 5,600 homes. Powell County is the gateway to the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge region and encompasses the lower Red River Valley with 180 square miles. There is a good mix of lowland arable land and upland forests.
