Sam Nelson's presentation on the Maia Maia project in Australia, sponsored by Transition PDX on December 12/30 was informative and an intro to using currency systems to engage citizens in making changes, in this case, reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. Article on my blog, sustainablity advocate.

Is that why you suggested that the transition US folks maybe meet as a subgroup in reply to my original suggestion for getting together as transitionus? Well, let's see what happens. Ruth Ann

Mike, while I agree there is a ton of overlap between environment/social/technical/building/... events, but plenty of events are not necessarily relevant. We do post relevant hearings with the City Council or neighborhood association events, but don't post the hearings that are strictly administrative in nature.

Jeremy et al,

While I understand your attempts to organize with "environmental events", I would like to pose the following question:

What interaction, ambient to imagined/real discrete (i.e. event or tangible matter) is NOT environmental?

;-)

TheDirt.org is a website of environmental events in the Portland area, which hosts the webpage(s) for Transition PDX and the Portland Permaculture Guild. No relationship as of yet with Transition US.

I'm game for a subgroup meeting and invite folks to attend some of the Transition PDX events in the next few weeks - http://www.thedirt.org/tpdx

Maybe we use this subgroup to have a face-to-face meeting here in Portland to do some strategic doing around basic questions: What could we do together? (exploring our assets to find new opportunities; what should we do together? (focus on one opportunity); What will we do together? (new initiative); and what are we learning together? (learning what works by executing and measuring what happens). Just a suggestion. Ruth Ann
