Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Today we concluded our "Financial Permaculture" course in Hohenwald, TN. Attending were members of the Chamber of Commerce, local extension services, city, county and state government representatives, and about 100 others. Our goal was to chart a course for a "sustainable Lewis County" in the weeks, months and years to come.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Rob Hopkins and I have been co-evolving on this tangent since the First International Conference on Ecovillages and Sustainable Communities which we hosted in Scotland in 1995. I recently returned from a visit to Transition Towers in Totnes in October, 2008. Rob and I did a speaking tour of Kinsale, Ireland together in 2007.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
We will be continuing to evolve our Financial Permaculture curricula, including incorporating it into the degree track program of Gaia University. The reskilling we have been teaching at the Ecovillage Training Center since 1994 continues to dovetail nicely with transition methodologies.

This is my third attempt to leave you a comment during a lightning storm. I had left you a comment about my dream about Haiti being a huge water collection device. And well, I though maybe you could guide me a little bit. I mean I am developing TransitionHaiti.ning.com with Les Squires approval. Maybe you can be a bit of a mentor and perhaps contributor? I enjoy listening to you on podcasts. What do you think ? can you help me out?

Welcome Albert. What a privilege to see you here. What a background in things Transition! We look forward to your participation. Let us know how we can catalyze your many activities.

Feel free to invite local people at such meets as Hohenwald to come to Starting Local Groups on Transition US and then to their particular state. We've created a space where they can describe what's happening in their local areas. We are currently vetting the most active states to set up Transition networks with them.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Albert and Michael,
The summaries are at http://www.financialpermaculture.org/ and thanks Albert for putting on such a high energy and intense 5 day event. Peter Huber at Dancing Deer went to it and we have been picking his brain for days. We are going to have him speak to a larger gathering next week so we can get more people involved in not only bridging the financial world with permaculture but with focussing on creating local living economies in our communities, whether small or large. If you write a report about it please send it to info(at)hopedance(dot)org for possible inclusing at our website www.hopedance.org
thanks

Hi Albert,

Great to see you here! I'm looking forward to reading the reports on the Financial Permaculture project there.

I'll be at the Plan C conference in Rochester MI this weekend with Dmitry Orlov, John Michael Greer, Richard Heinberg, Megan Quinn, Pat Murphy, et al, talking about Transition.

We're enthusiastic promoters of your book, which is being enjoyed by many people in our community.

Best wishes,

Michael Brownlee
