Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Community gardener, volunteer with various urban community projects, and blogger at www.baltimorediy.blogspot.com
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I love the idea of uniting the density of urban living with sustainability through creating better transportation systems, landscaping with edible and native species, re-designing our energy and water use... Transition movement is all about making tangible lifestyle changes to create a better world!
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
Baltimore City is well known for its urban decay (The Wire, Homicide, etc.) I hope to show another side of Baltimore, and to unite with other post-industrial cities to share ideas about how we can restructure our communities.
Your Favorite Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
HOMEGROWN.ORG is one of my favorite forums. I am also very inspired by the Dervaes family. And of course Novella Carpenter is a heroine of mine. I also really like Homegrown Evolution's book and blog. In 2009 I traveled out to the Maker's Faire to volunteer with Terry from www.permie.net.
Your Personal Website (if you have one)
http://www.baltimorediy.org
Suggestions you have for improving our Registration questions. Getting to know you better.
I am still a little uncomfortable giving out my phone number. I prefer to maintain telephone contact with people I am already friendly with on a face-to-face basis around my neighborhood. Thanks!

Last November I mentioned Muhmammad, one of my favorite Remington gardeners.

(Scroll down on this post to see a photo of his taro roots and cilantro.)

This man knows what he's doing. Not only is he growing giant okra, taro, and a ridiculous amount of beans and squash, he somehow manages to sneak a garden into nooks and crannies all… Continue
