"Boeing to mass-produce record-breaking 39.2 percent efficiency solar cell"

Posted on November 28, 2010 at 7:39pm 0 Comments

One of the things we need for a "high road transition", one that is comparitively peaceful and leaves us with a intact and vibrant society, is good and realistically affordable solar power systems.

Well, this is at least a step in that direction.

"Sustainable Growh is an oxymoron" - "eventually, we have to learn to live off the sun in real time."

A article relevant to our interests appeared in metafilter today.

Sustainable growth is an oxymoron

" Whether we’ve reached peak oil or not, we’ve certainly reached the peak of oil that’s reasonably easy to extract from Earth. Otherwise, why are we drilling in 5,000 feet of water through another 13,000 feet of rock in the Gulf of Mexico? Why are we…

One of the TTSC founding members writes about this stuff for the local paper:

Welcome Bill. Great to see your interest in Transition! Welcome to TRANSITION IN ACTION. is your link to our new Transition page for your neighbors in Pennsylvania. Feel free to join in the activities. Use the COMMENT WALL to say Hello to the others. Reinforce the good things they are doing. Mention something you're interested in. Ask a question. Start a discussion. Let me know if you would like to be an Admin on this page to help build and maintain your group's Resume. Have fun!

On the local scene, does State College (or some broader geographic area) have a Transition-supporting website, or blog, or listserv, or Facebook, or Meetup? If so, it would be spot on for all our members if you would consider including a link to State College in our registry of organizations, localities, companies, products, services, Twitterers, Facebooks, Meetups, etc. supporting Transition and Sustainability. Here's the page to create the link -- I'll be glad to help launch and build your link.

You can see all our 315+ groups at Use Search on this page to find a specific group. Let me know when you have questions about details.

One more thing. It would be super to see your photo -- Choose File on -- Let me know if you need assistance. I'll be delighted to do some photoshopping if needed.
