Hi, Dana ... it was wonderful to meet you at the Transition Denver event at the Mercury Cafe, Saturday, 15thNOV08. It appears that the idea of the "Transition Town Lyons Community Marching Band" has taken hold and that it will be a viable one, not only to represent our small burg of Lyons ("Jewel of the Front Range"), but really all of Colorado. Today or tomorrow you should receive more info about the TTLyonsCO CMBand and all of us will be taking it from there. It would be great, Dana, if you could engender more people from the Denver area to become interested in such a marching band. My (Our TTLyons) concept for the band is to function as a Comedy and Awareness-Raising Vehicle, to eventually show up for as many events as possible, and to eventually evolve a CORE of actual musicians that can CARRY the rest of the group, whether good musicians or not. You seem to have some Cheerleader Instincts ... the "pompomdana" thang! It would be great, if and when your way is open for events, to be among the leadership at the head of the band or even, if you are up to it, to be the Drum Majorette, i.e., the person out in the front of the band, probably with big "leadership stick," or whatever those Marching Band leaders carry, and carry us with a FLOURISH! Please make a list for me, if you can, or get somebody else that knows the Greater Denver, a list of the most important BAND EVENTS held throughout the year in the Denver area or in downtown Denver specifically. Obvious big huge events are on Earth Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day and so forth. Lyons, for whatever reasons, has its "Parade of Lights" event with fireworks in December (brrrr!) every year, and that will be our next event. Stay in touch and I shall keep you tuned into Da Marchin' Band! =sr/Kunga=

I shared your letter with about a boatload of people, and people are emailing back, inspired, brought to tears. God, I love the people Transition is attracting. Let's continue to post on Obama's website and encourage others to do so. I have been encouraging for people to keep repeating the Victory Garden on the White House lawn idea....what a powerful symbol and learning tool that would be...

Ahhh...I feel so blessed and thankful that I was able to allow something to flow through my fingertips that others are finding of value. Thank you.

There is a great little video about the campaign to grow vegies on the white house lawn "this lawn is your lawn": http://www.boingboing.net/2008/08/04/campaign-to-grow-veg.html

Another great site is: http://www.eattheview.org/
There is a petition and another really sweet video there.

I should have included the above links in my blurb to the change.gov site but forgot about them. Thanks for reminding me!

Seems we need to help strengthen the connections between the eat the view folks and transition efforts!
