Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
My involvement is multi-faceted. And, it's just beginning to unfold although it began a very long time ago. This is paradoxical yet, I've been moving in a direction toward this Transition all of my life and now, am taking action in many ways. I am a very active member of the Sacred Fire Community (google to find out more). I am one of 10 members of the Mesa Life Project, an LLC brought forth to bring people together in an intentional community in Western Colorado. In addition to this, I will be moving to a rural community in which I will become very active in the Transition movement. I attended the Financial Permaculture Summit in Howenwald, TN recently, to begin learning how to help with this transition. I am oriented through an indigenous background of being a Shaman (Marakame) in the Huichol Tradition and a Weather Worker (or Granicero) in the Nahua tradition, both of Mexico. With this, the divine is at the helm of all that I'm involved in as well as my open heart to listening for the indigenous wisdom and knowledge that sustained people throughout time as long as humans have lived on this Great Mother.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I identify in so many ways. I see and have lived what we've done to our Mother Earth. I feel we are in for hard times and I want to be ready, help my people be ready and know what to do for the transition to be sustainable for the generations to come. We can no longer continue this way of living; many indigenous elders have spoken and continue to give us guidelines, I honor and respect them. I see that we are in a spiritual crisis where we've lost touch with that which gives life and living to us.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
Learning and connecting with like-minded people but also showing up in community to teach and help people not be fearful but to take action as needed. I want to teach our young people and help them to be involved.

I am beginning a non-profit called "Full circle living initiative: mending the sacred hoop". Through this organization for my area of Western Colorado, we are starting an earth centered school for youngsters, a farmer's cooperative to organize food growing and selling, eventually a health alliance cooperative where people will be able to receive help with health, workshops and classes on sustainability and building, etc.

Welcome Deanna! Great to see you here on Transition U.S. and Transition Colorado. "... I am beginning a non-profit called "Full circle living initiative: mending the sacred hoop". With your background Mending the Sacred Hoop should really be successful. Let us know how Transition Colorado can assist.

If you haven't already done so, come and see the new US Transition Page we rolled out last week. As this page develops, it will become a map of Transition resources across all ning sites. All 50 states are now active. Many state sites are brand new! Go to TRANSITION COLORADO and sign in. Invite others. Enter some of your local events. Start Discussions. Make Transition! Have fun!
