"Judith,
Thanks for the welcome and the info. I feel like I'm in Facebook For Transitioners!
I have a hard time being "friends" with someone I don't actually "know," but maybe I'll get over that... Meantime, I am so…"
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Attending meetings in our town. Our first was in mid-Feb. 2009.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I identify with it being a grass-roots movement that is on a local scale. I think we need to develop community skills, resources, and self-governing abilities, and assume the federal and state governments will not be taking care of us in the long emergency ahead.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
I can spread the word to other towns via friends and family, and through business networks.

Welcome Dora! Great to see you here on Transition U.S. and Transition Vermont. You highlighted in your profile "... Include a question about what specific knowledge or skills each member has, or wants to learn...." -- I hope the links below enable you to offer your mentoring skills. I'll beef up the "wants to learn" portion. Thx for your suggestion. Some Links Members Have Found Helpful
Edit your profile -- Forgot something really important? Like a photo…
Declare yourself -- What do you personally bring to the potluck? Say much more than you included in your Profile. Lay out your offer in detail.
Profile your group -- Make your constituents visible. Offer their values to mentor all Transitioners.
Reinforce, reinforce, reinforce -- Connect the dots -- friends to friends, newcomers to oldcomers, groups to groups, groups to members, skills to skills, special interests to special interests. This is your garden. Cultivate for the harvest.
Next steps TransitionUS -- Setting up local Transition initiatives, training, building your community resilience.
I know what you mean about the "friends" thing. The only thing I've found it helpful with is sending private messages when I didn't want to post something publicly.
That said, one of the first things that came through my mind when I saw your profile was "This looks like someone I'd like to have tea with." Really! I was surprised, myself. :-)
The suggestion about skills is a good one. Feel free to submit it as a discussion or a post to the Suggestion Box, too, as it would get more visibility in those places.
