I have just been elected by my community as a member of the Villages At Mt. Hood board of directors. I am also interested in forming a group with like minded people to collectively work on ideas and projects that will help make our tourist oriented community a transition town.

I feel it is important to build a new economy based on sustainable energy and resource use
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
Hopefully we will be learning how to overcome the challenges of energy and resource usage involving tourism.

Hi Doug
Well, I have daughters in Portland and a couple of good friends in Sisters but that's about it. I suggest you send an invitation out to all your friends and family in the area to check out the websites for Transition work, put up a poster at a local coffee spot or two, the closest food co-op, give small flyers/posters to any group that convenes regularly,.... and you might be surprised at the diverse people that are interested in the issues of climate change, peak oil and economic instability. Perhaps invite them to a discussion group that you host - an opportunity for them to air their thoughts and concerns as well as an opportunity for you to meet folks to support the work. Also, you might find someone in the Portland area that would be willing to come and give a short talk. David Johnson is a trainer and lives in Portland. You can probably contact him through the Transition Portland PDX ning site. Good luck!
