How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I'm was a founding member of the Initiating Group for Transition Town Lyons (in Colorado) and have attended the Training for Transition in Boulder. I'm re-"locating" to New Hampshire and I intend to start an Initiating Group there and look forward to collaborating with other Groups in New England.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I love that the movement is based on engaged optimism and designing a positive vision for change. Decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels and relocalizing our communities has the potential to do so much: enhance our quality of life, reduce our collective greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen our local economies, help residents address rising utility costs, improve resilience to emerging global problems, and reconnect individuals to our community. I also appreciate that the Transition movement is an inclusive process that can help guide and unify the strategies developed for business, government, education, energy production, food acquisition, and sustainability.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
I have a background in the psychology of change and am particularly interested in teaching others some of the internal skills that can support more sustainable living and the transition process. I have a BA in Physics, an MA in Somatic Psychology, and have done some post graduate work in whole systems education. I'm the director of the Simplicity Forum (a national nonprofit helping people live simple, just and sustainable lives) and am the Co-Founder and Director of Education for the Green Heart Institute a Colorado-based environmental education nonprofit. I am also a professional musician (www.sferesandwhite.com), writer, educator and public speaker (www.eco-tones.com).
Jennifer: We are relocating from Mexico back to Colorado. Very interested in Lyons as a possible place to set down roots and get to work on Transition. Would like to connect with you and Coco Gordon. Currently, we are in British Columbia, talking with folks here about their Transition work (Revelstoke and Nelson). C. Holden
Hi Jennifer,
We just had Training for Transition here in Ann Arbor, and are interested in seeing statements of intent from various initiating groups. It looked like you were willing to share yours, but I couldn't find it on the Transition Lyons or Colorado ning sites. Could you help?
Yes, the sites are linked through your single login -- See a list of your networks. If you change your email address or password, e.g., they are changed on all your sites.
No, registration questions on your profile asked at the time you signup for a particular site are not "carried" from site to site. Each site asks the questions it wants to ask of its members. Profile questions are not linked across sites for this reason.
