Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Just getting started with local, organic farming, etc. Have been doing extensive reading/studying and want to learn the application.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I grew up (and intend to move back to) a very small town in rural Western PA. I used to think this type of community was outdated...however the more I learn about just how out of sync our current living standards have taken us from nature and the environment, I'm dying to learn all I can to help revitalize this gem of a small town.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
Hard work, dedication, patience, open-mindedness. I have degrees in business, marketing, communications and some database skills as well. Happy to apply all to the cause. I am more than happy to be a spokesperson and advocate for this cause within the community and work environment I currently find myself in...and more importantly, taking it "back east" to the small, rural communities that are actually the basis for the ideas of the Transition Movement. These folks have unfortunately come to believe that they are behind the times, not "with it"...when if they came to realize how far ahead of the curve they actually are by re-implementing some of the practices that were key to their founding and early development, they'd be light years on the way...and much happier, healthier and at peace because of it.

Hi Joshua, thanks for inviting me to be your friend! I've just joined the PA group to foster relationships and develop networks with neighboring states around Ohio.

I used to live out west and dearly miss it sometimes, especially since my sons are out their with their families, but my roots are sunk deep here and I truly sense this is the place for me.

Any plans to return to the heartland any time soon?

Welcome Joshua! Great to see you here on Transition U.S. and Transition Longmont and Pennsylvania(?) "... I have degrees in business, marketing, communications and some database skills as well. Happy to apply all to the cause..." -- Do you have some ideas how to tap into the Pennsylvania farmer skills that all the rest of us lack... GRIN!

If you haven't already done so, come and see the new US Transition Page we rolled out last week. As this page develops, it will become a map of Transition resources across all ning sites. All 50 states are now active. Many state sites are brand new! Go to TRANSITION PENNSYLVANIA and sign in. Invite others. Enter some of your local events. Start Discussions. Make Transition! Have fun!
