sorry about delay in getting back to you. i definitely think Bowling Alone and Better Together by Robert Putnam are a good start. i've also read John Field's Social Capital (UK perspective)and Social Cpaital: Critical Perspectives by Baron, Field and Schuller. hope this helps. i think developing social capital is at the heart of community development, though it's a little used concept. Putnam thinks Portland , Oregon has rich social capital. would be interested to hear your view
Are you still around? So far, you and I take anywhere from 7 months to 2.5 years to respond to each other. But alas, the revolution has come, and I think it's high time we connected. :-)
I've recently begun my next original documentary theatre project (created by teens) called "Civil Disobedience - The Musical" and I really want to connect with the folks here at Transition. You are the first person I'm reaching out to.
