Vermont Public Radio Commentary

Hi All,I'm starting to do commentaries about TT for Vermont Public Radio.  First one just aired tonight.  You can listen to it here.I'm told by one listener that I have invented the phrase "culinary kata."  It's what a Buddhist gastronome gives his favorite chef.- KathrynSee More

Kathryn Blume replied to Les Squires's discussion 'One or Two or Three Wishes'
"Hi TTers! I'm Kathy Blume from Charlotte, VT and I'm writing a book on the power of the TT model as a proactive, hopeful, inclusive, and effective response to climate change and peak oil. My wish is to interview at least 50 people…"

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
On the Steering Committee for Transition Town Charlotte, VT, and working with statewide leadership as well.

Doing commentaries about Transition for Vermont Public Radio.

Just starting work on a book about it all as well.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I've always been interested in how individuals make change, how grassroots movements grow.

I think the TT methodology is incredibly well thought out, flexible, and hopeful. It's too easy to take to your bed with a big box of bon-bons in the face of all this, and I'm deeply grateful for the focus on envisioning a positive future.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
I have a couple ideas about this. One is in development. More info soon...

But the other is using my current solo show, "The Boycott" to help groups raise awareness and money.

"The Boycott" is a one-woman show in which the First Lady of the US launches a nationwide sex strike to combat global warming.

See URL below for more info.

We Are the Ones We've Been Waiting For

You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.

Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.

And there are things to be considered:

Where are you living?

What are you doing?

What are your relationships?

Are you in right relation?

Why Big Oil Misses The Picture

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 9:00pm 0 Comments

Great article from Triple Pundit:

Just when you thought that Big Oil was coming around, that maybe they thought it might be a good idea to invest in our collective future, not just oil futures, Royal Dutch Shell announces that it will focus its "renewable investment" portfolio on oil, gas and biofuels (ignoring solar, wind and other alternatives).

Never mind that oil and gas are hardly renewable resources by any stretch of the…

Welcome Kathryn and soon to be Transition Vermont! We've had a lot of interest recently from Vermont. I see you've already connected with George. It would be great if we set up Transition Vermont soon on a similar pattern to http://transitioncolorado.ning.com what do you think?

We invite you to go to Starting Local Groups on Transition US and then to Vermont. Tell us a little more about what's happening in Charlotte. This Charlotte visible to other groups in Vermont and elsewhere around the world. Be sure to ask questions as they arise.
