Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I've only just learned of this movement but have always been curious about the "sense of community" which has all but disapeared in our area.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
My interests are for the neighbourhood in which I own a rental duplex, in a small town of 1600 pop. This use to be a genuine & caring community at one time. We've owned this home since the mid 70's & time has changed this village drastically.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
We own 100 acres of remote woodland on which we intend to begin a "Permaculture Forest Garden" this spring & intend to post much of what we learn there, for any interested.
Our duplex in town has ample area for gardening & an already established growth of (3 of) wild plum trees with a small grouping of crab apple & serviceberry bushes.
Perhaps some community involvement in a community garden here, could lead to better relations with the people in this area.
Your Favorite Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
Anything by James Mishner (Michner?), the "100 Mile Diet" & several titles & authors writting about multiple subjects involving all of the new wave subjects, like "Low-Impact" building & "Greywater" re-use methods. For instance.

Welcome Rusty,

Great to see your interest in Transition! Welcome to TRANSITION IN ACTION.

Feel free to join in the activities. Use the COMMENT WALL to say Hello to the others. Reinforce the good things they are doing. Mention something you're interested in. Ask a question. Start a discussion. Let me know if you would like to be an Admin on this page to help build and maintain your group's Resume. Have fun!

On the local scene, it would be spot on for all our members if you would consider including a link to http://www.canadianbackwoodsman.com/ in our registry of organizations, localities, companies, products, services, Twitterers, Facebooks, Meetups, etc. supporting Transition and Sustainability. Here's the page to create the link -- http://transitioninaction.com/groups/group/new. I'll be glad to help launch and build your link. You interested?

You can see all our 356+ groups at http://transitioninaction.com/groups. Use Search on this page to find a specific group. Join as many as you like. We've recently started a newsletter to summarize significant "in action" activities. Great models for all of us! Let me know when you have questions about details.

Great photo!

Super 2011 to you!
