Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am trying to encourage collaboration in the Hudson Valley.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am interested in Transition because I see it as a useful model that allows people to build on the successes and challenges of communities throughout the world facing similar issues. Being able to adopt and adapt the established framework makes it easier to get to the important work of community development than if everyone had to start from scratch, in isolation.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for being in touch with me a while back. I hope I responded, but I knew very little because I was actually just in the process of moving to Ecovillage at Ithaca. I'm still just getting settled and getting to know people. I am quite familiar with Sustainable Tompkins, but haven't had a chance to get involved yet. I know Sustainable Tompkins had a Transition Town workshop a while back. Do you know who here is interested in Transition? I'm looking to start some more local conversations. Thanks! And please stay in touch. I'd love to make it to a regional conference eventually. Warm Regards,
Celeste

Hey Sarah,

Sorry I never got back to you. I would love it if we could keep in touch via e-mail about developing this regional Transition Initiative. Send me an e-mail at : mattgordon11@gmail.com
I've got a small but committed group of young people looking to organize things this summer. My original thought was to connect with as many groups focusing on Sustainability and Social Justice issues in the immediate area and then work with their networking support to begin advertising awareness raising events in town. I'd love to hear what progress you've made.

Yes! A whole roomful of leaders! What a powerful thing!
Thanks for being one of them!

Thanks to Sarah and Les for your kind welcomes. Thanks also for the heads up on the Rochester meeting. If I can make it, I will.

Perhaps you can enlighten me a little on one point. I'm totally onboard with your views on global warming and peak oil, but so far I haven't seen anything on the site about the current economic crisis. I may not have searched enough. If so, could you point me in the right direction? I think the economic mess is much more immediately threatening than either of the other two phenomena, although I do think they all will likely come together like a Perfect Storm at some point. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sarah! The screening went well... a great turnout and discussion. Let's definitely see how we can collaborate. How did the training go this weekend?
