Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?: I have taken the "Training for Transition" course (Nov 22-23, Cambridge, MA, USA) and am looking to get a reading group started in my community to spur on a initiating group for a Transition Initiative in the Hamilton-Wenham community (Hamilton, Massachusetts, USA)

In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?: I have been grappling with addressing both oil dependency and climate change for some time. I am attracted to Transition because it clearly recognizes both of these issues together. Additionally, the concept of creating resilient communities and visioning of your community as a resilient community in the future feels right on to me. I am excited by the sheer number of other people who are also attracted to Transition and expect that the momentum and creative genius of these people will lead to vibrant, resilient communities of the future.

How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?: - Helping to initiate a Transition Initiative in my community.
- To contribute Transition's success by leveraging my experience with Carbonrally.com as well as my 20+ years of information technology, knowledge management, and product/project management expertise.

Suggestions you have for improving our Registration questions. Getting to know you better.: You might be missing out on people joining TransitionUS because of the two required open ended questions "How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?" and "In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?" They take a while to give a thoughtful answer and may in some cases lead to people not registering. I know it stopped me the first time I saw the registration page. I think they are all great questions, I am just not sure they should be required.

Come and see the new US Transition Map we rolled out this past weekend. As this page develops, it will become a map of U.S. and World Transition resources. All 50 states are now active.
