Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Through my communications work at YES! Magazine (www.yesmagazine.org) — sharing Transition stories on a regular basis through social media and other means. Meeting with a Transition book group in Seattle.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Ever since encountering the bioregional movement in the late 80's, I've been interested in localized, sustainable, solutions that are rooted in living appropriately where we live.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
I can help grow the movement in my own local neighborhood (Southend Seattle, Columbia City/Seward Park/Rainier Valley). And I continue to promote transition-related topics, stories, and resources through social media and my other outreach & communications work at YES! Magazine.

I'm curious to know if you have found any discussions, groups, fora, friends here. I mostly am thinking of tomorrow, the NICA gathering up at Wooley Mammoth Community in Sedro Wooley. I've never been there before. We aim to head out by 8:00 -- and that's AFTER picking up Joanna and Morgan! So, I need to head to bed soon. Will take notes of some sort tomorrow and share with you later. We expect 40 - 50 people to be there. That's very large for a NICA gathering hosted at an IC. Bree will be there, Karen Studders (they're riding together--meeting for the first time), David, me and Mo/Jo, our board members and the PT staff person who does our social media and tech support, Kenneth Gilgren. Just mentioning people who you know or have heard of who'll mix with attendees from Bellingham, BC (O.U.R. Ecovillage), Olympia, Seattle and greater Skagit/Whatcom area. Should be interesting!

Welcome Susan,

Great to see your interest in Transition! Welcome to TRANSITION IN ACTION.

http://transitioninaction.com/group/linktransitionwashingtonstateusa is your link to our new Transition page for your neighbors in the State of Washington. Feel free to join in the activities. Use the COMMENT WALL to say Hello to the others. Reinforce the good things they are doing. Mention something you're interested in. Ask a question. Start a discussion. Let me know if you would like to be an Admin on this page to help build and maintain your group's Resume. Have fun! Please keep us informed about what's happening in Seattle.

On the local scene, it would be spot on for all our members if you would consider including a link to http://growpoke.wordpress.com/ in our registry of organizations, localities, companies, products, services, Twitterers, Facebooks, Meetups, etc. supporting Transition and Sustainability. Here's the page to create the link -- http://transitioninaction.com/groups/group/new. I'll be glad to help launch and build your link. What do you think...?

You can see all our 315+ groups at http://transitioninaction.com/groups. Use Search on this page to find a specific group. Join as many as you like. Let me know when you have questions about details.

One more thing. It would be super to see your photo -- Choose File on http://transitioninaction.com/profiles/settings/editProfileInfo -- Let me know if you need assistance. I'll be delighted to do some photoshopping if needed.
