Transition Somerville meeting at TBA

June 1, 2009 from 7pm to 9pm
This will be the second meeting towards forming a transition initiative in Somerville, MA.
May 28, 2009

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I attended a two-day Transition training workshop in Cambridge MA and am currently exploring with my Somerville cohort, Emily Hardt, how to bring Transition to Somerville, MA.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
The Transition movement seems like a great framework to connect a lot of the work already being done around environmental, social, and economic sustainability. I like that it bases decision-making on future scenarios as opposed to past data. I like that it addresses peak oil and climate change. Mostly, I see it as a deep attempt to address how human beings are on planet earth -- as opposed to the many techno-fix answers being proposed to address climate change.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
See what can happen in Somerville, share what we're learning here, and learning from other communities and transition folks.

HI Vanessa,

This may seem a little odd, but I just met with Vicki Robbins to talk about an organizing model called the Common Security Club (www.commonsecurityclub.org) that I helped create and disseminate. We touched on Transition Towns in our conversation, both agreeing that the TT movement is very compatible with both our work. She suggested I come to a meeting that you and she are having on Monday. I wanted to check with you about place and time, and also whether you are comfortable with that.

I am the co-founder of the JP Green House, and I know Rob Riman and Marian Miller. I've been meaning to get involved more with TT for a long while. I'd love to meet you and discuss common interests.

Best wishes,

Andree Zaleska
