Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am on a steering committee in San Luis Obispo County. We have already created a listserv, a website link to buy the HANDBOOK, other resources, collecting names of possible reskilling folks, listing organizations that are in alliance with the values and message of TT in our county. Fortunately we have had a magazine (www.HopeDance.org) in the tri-county area (central coast of Califorrnia) that has been doing similar work for the past ten years.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
For transformative purposes since the handwriting has been on the wall for decades and TT has a great umbrella and celebratory feel where others do not.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
With all the elements and skills I have: media, screening films, writing, publishing, facilitating discussions, website (that is alrady getting 200,000 hits a month). We just published an issue that comprises a reprint from the HANDBOOK as well as 4 other articles that are very specific to how to start (www.hopedance.org).

It's said there is no away to which we can throw stuff we no longer want. Now you assert there is an elsewhere to which one can fade. No climate change or peak oil there?

Thanks for being an initiator, if not an eternal light. Go in peace.

hahaha,, what did I ask? oh, i see my comment now. i don't think so but it's cool. thanks for your reply now.
i've invited two vocal climate change skeptics over for a visit today and they accepted the invitation. seeking to build neighborhood bridges and bring it home; not interested in debate/argument. wish me luck. kj

Yes, indeed, Renewal is a good one for that. Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light has done that a few times, and will again. Have not yet done so at a Transitions event. Much to do.

Thanks for saying. Hope we can collaborate on things.

Howdy Bob,

Thanks for all your efforts with Transition and the Hopedance linkage.

I'm flying into Burbank, California on July 4th and heading back to Ohio on July 21st.

I'll be going to a community fair in Ventura, then up to Ojai with my son to spend time with family (play with my grandson and meet my new first grand-daughter!!!!).

I may be staying at the Ojai Foundation for some of the time. I am then borrowing my son's truck and heading up I 5 to Fairfield to see my brother and then up 101 to spend time with my son in Humboldt.

Thought I'd seek your input since youo seem to know about what's happening in California and I'm working up my specific itinerary. I would like to incorporate any potential opportunities to meet up with Transition folks, partake in Transition related events/meetings and/or see if anyone wants to carpool north or south.

On another topic - I am involved in the process of re-writing the vendor/product eligibility criteria for the "producer-only" Athens Farmers Market. I'd personally like to see our market take a stronger local resiliency oriented approach but we also have a strong locavore movement who appear to have a narrower view on such things in terms of local food/farm grown products, etc.

Have you run across any related articles, threads on this topic? We're into the nitty-gritty of definitions. I found a great UK site with FARMA criteria but nothing much from the US community in terms of specific definitions and clarifications. Thanks.

Please reply to info@broadwellhill.org as I don't get over to Transition US as much as I used to (mainly involved with T Ohio at this point) and I'm not sure if I am emailed when I get comments or emails on this site.

Love,

kj
