How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am new to the site and the concept -- very intrigued -- interested in learning what I can do to help bring this to Austin and Central Texas.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Here's what I'm into: permaculture, raw veganism, growing my own veggies and shopping at farmer's markets, rainwater collection, buying local, exploring local alternative energy solutions and resources, learning how to build and fix things myself, buying 90% of my clothes in thrift stores, recycling and reusing like mad...trying to be less of the problem and more of the solution. From what I've seen, the Transition movement looks like the only positive, sustainable, sane movement out there...it's smart, resourceful people daring to believe that we can change the future for the better, one person and one action at a time. Yet unlike other models I've seen, this one looks doable and sustainable. Community is all...divided, we fall. I design online community and learning experiences for a living...I see this as an incubator group that can have huge local > global impact.

Hi Regan - I'm a transplanted Austinite and thinking of moving back to the area. Our interests and sentiments are aligned. If a transition town or movement gets started there, I would love to know about it. Would you mind enlightening me on progress there? Thanks!

Welcome Regan and soon to be Transition Texas! Great to see you here. What a perfect set of interests! "... I am new to the site and the concept -- very intrigued -- interested in learning what I can do to help bring this to Austin and Central Texas...." -- We've had some interest from Texas. Here's what you can do.

Go to Starting Local Groups on Transition US and then to Texas. Tell us a little more about what's happening in Austin and Central Texas. This makes your groups visible to other groups in Texas and elsewhere around the world. We are currently vetting the most active states to set up Transition networks with them.
