"Sust Enable: The Metamentary" is a project of Transition Pittsburgh. Our film is all about "what does sustainability mean?" And we explore this question at all levels of the film's creation--making it a truly holistic and mindful endeavor. Our story, style and real world filmmaking processes will all reflect our developing understanding of sustainability. Only by exploring sustainable process will we be able to produce the best possible film about sustainability. We are concerned with how films can inspire people to further deep and compassionate engagement with the real world. We are not interested in creating propaganda, or a flashy story line... we want to know if film can hold "sustainability" in all of its complexity and profundity. Our goal is to make abstract sustainability theories more accessible to moviegoers by transmuting them into an emotionally-resonant and artfully-told film. Audiences will walk away with the critical thinking, emotional sense, and practical tools for naming, discussing and practicing sustainability in their lives and communities.
If you like this idea, please check out our online fundraising campaign that is going on right now. We are trying to meet a fundraising goal of $5000 so we can kick off production. Films are unfortunately rather expensive to make, but we are building wonderful inclusive relationships with the local community and local sustainable businesses that allow us to get many of our needs met without money. With just a small contribution of $5, $10 or $20, you can help make this visionary film come to life! Plus, you can claim some sweet perks, like a free digital copy of the debut album from director and singer/songwriter Caroline Savery (that's me!), a copy of our final DVD, a signed press kit, even a personalized video greeting from the interviewee of your choice!
