Vote WMG the Top Local Green Nonprofit on Huffington Post!

Exciting news: Thanks to your enthusiastic reviews of Watershed Management Group during GreatNonprofits' 2011 Green Awards, WMG is now one of just 10 local green nonprofits from all over the country showcased on Huffington Post — and in the running for Top Local Green Nonprofit of the Month! Since HuffPoposted the finalists Friday and the voting began, we've been one of the groups leading the pack.

We know your votes can close the small margin to put us in the top spotand help shine a national spotlight on the work we've accomplished together locally. Please click here today to cast your vote for WMG — voting ends April 30. (To vote, click five stars next to our slide and then click "Vote"— don't worry that it doesn't confirm you've voted.)

Then please share the voting link (and some local love) with your friends, and consider adding your own review of Watershed Management Group through our GreatNonprofits 2011 Green Awards link. And by the way, we love you back!

Share the Labor! Join the Phoenix Green Living Co-op

Have you been thinking about improvements to make your home more sustainable, but you’re stuck on where to start? You’re not alone, and that’s the beauty of our Green Living Co-op! Gain skills with hands-on training by attending free workshops, and earn volunteer hours that count toward your own projects through Watershed Management Group. Learn to work together in building green-living systems like rainwater-harvesting earthworks, cisterns, greywater systems, passive solar systems, chicken coops, and home gardens.

The program is based on the “barn-raising” model, where sweat equity makes green home improvements affordable and accessible to all. It’s amazing what one group workshop can accomplish in a morning — but don’t just take our word for it. Join today, connect with others who share the same passions, do some labor with your neighbors, and make a difference!

Sign up for the Phoenix Co-op here. Registration and volunteering are free, and Co-op members enjoy discounted rates on hosting workshops at their own homes.

For more information on hosting a Co-op workshop, click here. Members interested in hosting a workshop should contact Co-op Coordinator Ryan Wood at rwood@watershedmg.org or call 602-618-6650.

Send Soap to Our India Handwashing Program with Organic Soap Splurge for Yourself

Organic soapmaking company LUKA SOAP is no ordinary outfit. For every bar of soap purchased, they donate a bar of organic soap to an organization teaching handwashing in a developing nation. We're thrilled to kick off this new partnership, but we need your help. In order to get soap to our school handwashing program in India, someone has to buy soap from them. So splurge a little: Gift yourself or someone else with some sweet soap (the selections run the gamut from Mexican vanilla to coconut lemongrass), and help get soap to our school program for life-saving handwashing. Learn more about LUKA SOAP here and click hereto check out their organic offerings. Then check out tippytap.org to learn more about the powerful impact of our handwashing campaigns abroad.
