Thanks for the context and pointing in the right directions. I'm new to the transition movement in general, although I know lots of people who are dancing around it and probably don't need much in terms of external stimuli before getting involved.  But in researching, it's not easy to see how different local, online, and umbrella groups fit together. Seems what's necessary is a kind of "map" of the movement for how all of these groups fit together in a way that a newcomer/outsider could easily understand. Does anything like that exist? Thanks again for the warm welcome!

My proposal would be to add this link to the Francophone group:  http://www.transitie.be/  - with naming that it is the Flemish site, in Dutch. And if you have also a group for the Netherlands, you could add the same information. In that way people are guided to the right site.

Thanks!

On January 28, Erik and I will present What are Transition Towns? in Charlottesville, Va. All the details on this FB page. The pdf is attached if you want a flier to print out and post in your locality. Charlottesville is a fun place to visit, so maybe some of you can scare up a posse and come down for the evening to hear the talk and share it with others.TTEvent.pdf

I would be interested in creating a bridge, but I don't know what one is or how to do it.  I tend to learn the things I use and stick with that until I have to learn something else.  Thanks for the reply.  Mary

Wow, Les! Thank you! I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment... not sure where to start. Let me poke around a bit and see what I can figure out.

Just getting my feet wet at the moment... I see a lot of potential here! Maybe I can help with some social media/promotional stuff, web apps and the like. Technology is a non-profit's best friend!

The point is that I - and more than half of the Belgians - don't speak French normally. We speak Dutch, so the page that you are referring to is not very helpful... but we don't need one here I guess, as there is a website for the Flemish transition town movement.

Re All-Transition search sites, no problem. If you have any suggestion on sites that should really be included (i.e. those with a lot of informative pages) then let me know any time.

Thanks

Les - We've started a facebook page but I don't know who to make a link between our proposed group and that page. Would love to have that connection opened. Surprised that I don't see the people I met from the Albany NY group! I invited that bunch to join here as well.

Thanks for the All-Transition Global Search, Les - it's a great tool.

I'm building another search, with a lot of overlap, as a research tool. The idea is to restrict it to sites with serious, well-informed information, whether community, govt or other. I was wondering whether I could get a copy of the list of sites in your search engine, so I could have a look through and pick out a few to add to this new search.

Thanks - you can find me at chriswaterguy at appropedia dot org.

Thanks Les.  As you suggested, I have set up a group "Post Peak Medicine".  I am a bit too shy to put my photo up there, but since you have offered to do some Photoshopping I thought I would ask...

What my organization really needs is a logo.  It is a medically oriented organization aimed mainly at physicians, and the logos of physician organizations around the world nearly always have a representation of a serpent and a staff: the so called Rod of Asclepius of Greek mythology, which had something to do with medicine.  So if someone could design a logo incorporating these sympols and also a peak, that would be just wonderful.  Here are some medical logos to illustrate what I mean:

http://www.cma.ca/ (Canadian Medical Association)

http://www.ama-assn.org/ (American Medical Association)

http://www.bma.org.uk/ (British Medical Association)

http://www.cmpa-acpm.ca/ (Canadian Medical Protective Association)

and so on.

Hope someone can help, because I am useless at graphic design.

Thanks, Peter.

"Wouldyou be interested in creating a group for Transition Jakarta. We don't have one at this point..." - not in leading it myself, but I want to ask... since there are likeminded groups in Jakarta (I'm thinking of "Ruang Jakarta" in particular) perhaps we could approach one and ask them if they're interested in being an "affiliate"?

Greetings Les, as far as I can determine there is no organization or group in thi region, (northern NB) that is actively involved in any Transition activities.

Thanks Les,

I used the "forgot my password" site, put in a new one, and things seem to work. I still don't know how to get in touch with Bill Sharp of the Transitional Town in Centre County Pennsylvania. Do you?

Thank you for joining CotW group, Les.  I'll have to check on our wiki as to whether we've added a page pointing to this site.
